Mallika Sherawat was supposed to co-host a segment of Zee Cine Awards with Karan Johar . But she backed out at the last moment.
The oomph belle of Bollywood was given an economy class air ticket to Mauritius by the organizers of the show. It turned out that many Bollywood celebrities were on the flight and the executive class tickets were all booked up.
Sources are quoted as saying that Mallika was unwilling to fly economy class and therefore turned down the offer to go to Mauritius. Media reports also say that Mallika was also offered an option to fly to the show venue in Shah Rukh Khan ’s private chartered flight. But the Sherawat girl refused this offer too.
Another source says that Mallika wanted to take along with her a good number of people like her bodyguards, her manicurist, pedicurist and some relatives to the show. As the organizers couldn’t afford the entire entourage, Mallika dropped out of the show.
Held on Saturday evening in Mauritius, this year’s Zee Cine Awards was a rather lacklustre event despite all the colourful performances.
The winners were predictable and the show compéring, done almost entirely by reading from the tele-prompter, was bland in spite of Johar’s best attempts to infuse some humour into the evening. Even Sajid Khan failed at this characteristic wit.
